A Preview of Main Draw Monday’s Action-Packed Agenda

Day 1 of the ATX Open kicks off a slate of top doubles play as well as singles matches featuring some familiar faces.

The second-seeded team of Caroline Dolehide and Storm Hunter open play on Center Court at 11 a.m., facing Isabelle Haverlag and Isabelle Rosolska. Hunter is returning to tour this week for the first time in 10 months after  rupturing her Achilles tendon last April.

Then comes a tantalizing singles match with two tournament favorites: seventh-seeded American Katie Volynets and global star Ajla Tomljanovic, who is one of four wild cards. Next up on Center Court is Nuria Parrizas Diaz of Spain against Malaika Rapolu, who grew up in the Austin area and starred at the University of Texas. Rapolu earned a wild card into the ATX Open by winning the Dropshot Series H-E-B Women’s Pro Tennis Open, a USTA Pro Circuit/ITF World Tour event, in November.

The night session starts at 6 p.m. with defending champion Yue Yuan, now seeded fourth, against Kimberly Birrell of Australia.

The Grandstand features doubles action all day long. Play starts at 1 p.m. with the third-seeded team of Oksana Kalashnikova and Kamilla Rakhimova against Greet Minnen and Arantxa Rus.
