Doubles Final Firsts

The doubles final will feature two teams that joined forces specifically for the ATX Open. Though Olivia Gadecki and Olivia Nicholls live five minutes apart in London, it took a transatlantic trip to bring the two together as a tennis duo. So far, so good. For Gadecki, today represents the first Hologic WTA final of her career, while Nicholls played and won her first final in Lyon two seasons ago.

The two Olivias (or “O2” as we have dubbed them in Austin) will have to beat Katarzyna Kawa and Bibiane Schoofs to make the rare ‘first title on a first outing’ boast. Team Oxygen (see what we did there?) breezed into the final via a walkover, whereas the team of Kawa and Schoofs had to battle from a set down to upset our No. 1 seeds in a match tiebreak for the chance to hoist the trophy.
