PRESENT HISTORY

Austin will be joined by roughly 80,000 Andorans to watch the first match on Center Court. The locals will be curious to see if the winner of Austin’s ITF Tour H-E-B Women’s Pro Tennis Open Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva can make the most of her wildcard entry. The 18-year-old who won the Australian Open junior title when she just was 14 will face 21-year-old Latvian Darija Semenistaja.

ATX-TRA

In the second duel, Grand Slam champion Sloane Stephens will take on Czech qualifier Tereza Martincova for a spot in the second round. She was impressive on the doubles court last night as she paired up with fellow American Peyton Stearns for the win. Sloane made two things clear: she is having a lot of fun and she cannot wait to experience the ATX-tra energy in her singles match today. No pressure, Austin.

PEYTON THE STANDS BURNT ORANGE

Kicking off “College Night” will be Longhorn legend Peyton Stearns. In these parts, her name is still spoken in hushed tones. She is the first player in school history to win the NCAA national singles championship. “P,” as she is affectionately called, will be taking on Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the resurging Slovak who reached the third round at a major for the first time at Roland Garros last year. It is reasonable to suspect Austin will be Peyton the stands burnt orange.

“COME ON” CAVALIER

Speaking of college stars, the nightcap will feature Virginia Cavalier and two-time NCAA national champ Danielle Collins, who will take on Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki. Collins, famously known for her “come on, Danielle” yell is an all-passion player who leaves fans with no choice but to join in and match her energy. With this being her final season on tour, we expect her motivation to be high and the crowd to be big.

MOM’S TURN TO PLAY

A trio of moms are slated for Tuesday’s lineup at the ATX Open and we are here for it. Anastasija Sevastova is mom to 1-year-old Alexandra, Taylor Townsend’s son, Adyn, will turn three next month, and Yanina Wickmayer will celebrate her daughter Luana’s third birthday in April. We dare you to suggest you can’t do it all.
