Cirstea, a 34-year-old veteran ranked No. 120, boasts a career-high of No. 21 and a strong hardcourt game. This will be their first tour meeting.
Fifth-seeded McCartney Kessler faces qualifier Cristina Bucsa in the final match of the day session. Kessler held off Viktorija Golubic, 6-2, 7-5, on Wednesday, while Bucsa advanced with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Bernarda Pera. Eighth-seeded Suzan Lamens meets Greet Minnen on the Grandstand, and Caroline Dolehide takes on Varvara Gracheva in the evening session.
