Three Grand Slam title winners and a former state champion from an Austin high school are among the doubles entries for the ATX Open.

Fernanda Contreras, who played locally at Westlake High School, will partner with American Danielle Collins in the 16-team doubles field. Contreras was the 2014 5-A Singles and Mixed Doubles Champion in Texas before heading to Vanderbilt where she earned All-American honors. Her partner, Collins, was a two-time NCAA singles champion at the University of Virginia.

The projected top seed in the field is a pair of players with Grand Slam success on their resumes. Anna Danilina won the 2023 US Open mixed doubles title and was a women’s doubles finalist at the 2022 Australian Open. The winner of five career WTA titles, she’s partnering with 13-time winner Zhang Shuai, herself a winner at both the Australian Open and US Open while having also reached a Wimbledon final.

The field also features Italian Sara Errani, who owns 29 career doubles titles, including five at the Majors, winning the Australian Open twice and each of the others once. She will partner with Oksana Kalashnikova in Austin.

The field will also include a duo who were college rivals, with former UCLA Bruin Catherine Harrison teaming up with former crosstown foe Sabrina Santamaria, who played at USC.

Last year’s ATX Open doubles title was claimed by Erin Routliffe and Aldila Sutjiadi (pictured). Routliffe would later partner with Gabriela Dabrowski and bolstered by a run to the US Open semifinals, they qualified for the WTA Finals in Cancun.
