AUSTIN, Texas – Ajla Tomljanović, a three-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist, has officially added the ATX Open to her 2026 schedule, joining 2025 ATX Open champion Jessica Pegula at the fourth annual ATX Open. They faced off in the semifinals of this year’s ATX Open. She has climbed 18 spots to No. 88, contributing to Australia’s achievement of having four female players in the top 100.
Pegula and Tomljanović will headline the 32-player singles field at the Hologic WTA Tour tournament set for February 21-March 1, 2026 at Austin’s Westwood Country Club.
Tomljanović is also committed to play in the Austin125 later this year, the inaugural WTA 125 tournament running from November 3-9, 2025 at the Austin Tennis Academy. This exciting new event will feature 32 singles players and eight doubles teams competing on outdoor courts for a week of intense competition and big moments.
Born in Croatia, Tomljanović, who plays under the Australian flag, is a 5-time finalist on the Hologic WTA Tour. Also of note, she represented Australia in both singles and doubles at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics.
In 2023, she secured her first WTA 125 title at the MundoTenis Open in Brazil. After battling multiple injuries throughout 2023 and early 2024, Tomljanović made a remarkable comeback last October, capturing her second-career WTA 125 title in Hong Kong and re-entering the top 100 of the PIF WTA World Rankings.
She has also four singles titles and three doubles titles across the ITF Circuit.
In announcing her return to Austin for the 2026 ATX Open and forthcoming play in the Austin125, Tomljanović said, “Simply put, I love Austin. It is one of my favorite cities around the globe to play in. The fan support means a lot to me and I’m appreciative of all the support I’ve received in Texas’s capital city. I’m thrilled to return there later this year, and again early next year.”
ATX Open Tournament Director Christo Van Rensburg added, “As I’ve said before, Ajla brings joy to the court. And to this city. She has a big heart, and a real passion for the game. She won over a lot of fans at her first ATX Open and we can’t wait to have her back for two different WTA tournaments in the coming months. I know she’ll return here well prepared and ready to play. And the fans can’t wait to see her back on Texas soil.”
